location

A logical grouping of one or more departments. A location does not need to be a physical or a geographic location.

An attribute of an asset. CCS users can create locations to represent geographical locations. Assets are associated with the appropriate location as well as with the services that work with those assets.

A set of rules and regulations called an adaptive security policy that the Symantec Policy Manager sends to each Symantec Agent through constant communication with the Policy Manager. Clients are assigned to specific groups that can have one or more locations associated with them. When the client logs in, Agent software determines which location to use (and consequently which security policies to use) depending on network settings. See also network settings.
